Jerry C. Carter, Esq. - Owner & Founder
I am the founder of the Sierra Crest Business Law Group. I have known I would be a lawyer from the moment I joined my high school debate team. Also, when I was in high school, my father and two partners started a successful software business. That business enabled my parents to put all seven of us children through college, led to several memorable family fishing trips, and enabled my father to buy his dream salmon fishing boat. The whole family was excited for my father’s success and proud of his accomplishment. In addition, that business employed about 15 people. I am paying those blessings forward when my law firm helps business owners like you build and protect their companies. I take my job seriously because you inspire me and because I know how much is riding on keeping your business in legal compliance, keeping your business out of costly and distracting legal disputes, and helping you strategically grow your business. I graduated in 1992 from the University of Chicago Law School, where I served as a Comment Editor for the University of Chicago Law Review. I received a B.A. in philosophy from Brigham Young University in 1988. Prior to entering private practice, I served as a clerk to federal Court of Appeals Judge W. Eugene Davis. I then began my business litigation career at Mayer, Brown & Platt, in Chicago, Illinois. In 1996, I located my practice in Nevada, where I have represented individuals and businesses as a Reno Business Attorney ever since.

Andrea Thompson - Firm Administrator
I was born and raised in Reno, NV, and now live in Dayton with my husband and our four dogs. I fell into recruiting in 2012 and have loved it ever since, building a career focused on connecting great people with meaningful opportunities.
Over time, I’ve grown into broader talent development and people leadership roles, but at the heart of my work is always the same goal: helping individuals and teams succeed.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me outdoors, spending time with my family and enjoying all that Nevada has to offer.

Erika Whitworth, Esq. - Senior Attorney
I am a Senior Attorney with Sierra Crest Business Law Group. I am a Washington State native, where I began practicing law in 2013. With over a decade of diverse legal experience, I am a seasoned litigator and trusted advisor to my clients. I have built a reputation for delivering strategic, compassionate, and results-driven counsel.
Before joining Sierra Crest, I represented clients in a variety of civil litigation matters, often involving significant financial and emotional stakes. I have extensive trial experience, and I am skilled in mediation and settlement negotiations.
I earned my J.D. from Seattle University School of Law, where I undertook externships with the Washington State Attorney General’s Office and Northwest Justice Project. I hold a B.A. in English from the University of Washington, where I was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
Outside of the office, I am an avid mountaineer, skier, and outdoor enthusiast, as well as a lifelong musician and committed community volunteer. It is through my husband, a Nevada native, that I fell in love with this community, and I am proud to call Nevada my home.

Jessika Meyer, Esq. - Attorney
I am an accomplished California-licensed attorney with a decade of diverse experience in litigation, corporate law, estate planning, and trust and probate litigation. I combine a strong foundation in high-stakes insurance defense with a versatile background spanning contract disputes, probate litigation, and real estate transactions. I have focused heavily on probate and trust litigation while practicing in California for over 8 years.
I earned my Juris Doctor from the University of La Verne College of Law in 2013, graduating with academic distinction that included consistent Dean’s List honors, multiple CALI Awards, and membership on the Law Review. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, cum laude, from the University of Southern California, where I was recognized as a National Merit Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
My career began with significant hands-on legal training at respected institutions, including the Legal Department and Business Affairs office at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment and the Office of County Counsel for the County of Orange, where I drafted advisory memorandums and pleadings for managing partners and the Board of Supervisors.
Following my bar admission, I served as an Associate Attorney for the Law Office of Betty Auton-Beck, PLC, for nearly seven years. In this role, I acted as in-house counsel for a large local oil corporation, managing case files from client intake to settlement negotiations across various legal disciplines, including corporate law and taxation. I also handled complex probate and trust disputes and litigation stemming from contested Wills and Trusts.
Most recently, as an Associate Litigation Attorney at Wade & Lowe, APLC, I specialized in insurance defense for national carriers, focusing on home, fire, auto liability, and special investigations units. I managed all aspects of the litigation lifecycle, including motion practice, discovery, trial preparation, and appearances.

Megan Bellister - Legal Secretary
Megan Bellister is the Legal Secretary at Sierra Crest Business Law where she keeps attorneys informed, prepared, and ahead of deadlines. As a member of the legal team, Megan brings structure, clarity, calm, and momentum to complex legal matters. In her previous role as the Nell J. Redfield Curator of Learning and Engagement at the Nevada Museum of Art she oversaw School and Teacher Programs and gave lectures on topics such as fashion history. She has a Master’s degree in Museum Studies: Dress and Textile History from the University of Glasgow and a B.A. in Art History from Arizona State University.

I was born in South Africa and raised in Eswatini in a large extended family with nine siblings. I recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from the University of Eswatini.
My path has taken me through both customer-facing and analytical roles, beginning in the telecommunications industry as a sales agent and later joining a sugar manufacturing company as a finance intern, where I gained valuable experience working with financial reports. Family is at the heart of who I am, and my close relationship with my siblings continues to inspire and motivate me to be the best version of myself. In my free time, I enjoy cooking for my family and discovering new recipes.
